Farm Watch Program:

Similar to the Neighborhood Watch Program

Citizens report suspicious activities to law enforcement, other Farm Watch participants

Involves rural community citizens in efforts to prevent crime in areas surrounded by farms and large parcels of land

Organization includes law enforcement officials, county leaders, route captains, farmers, and rural residents

The goals of a Farm Watch program are to:

Reduce opportunities for crime to occur in farming and rural communities

Strengthen community spirit, so that everyone works together to protect their property

Improve communication between the farming community and law enforcement

Encourage people to report suspicious incidents

The services offered by Farm Watch include:

Practical crime prevention advice to farmers and landowners to help ensure their property and goods are as secure as possible

A property marking scheme to make disposal of stolen goods difficult and to expedite the return of property to the rightful owner
