Sheriff Reserves

Reserve Deputies

Story County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputies are volunteers who provide assistance and services to the citizens of Story County through law enforcement services for special events, contracted law enforcement duties, and any other capacity in which their extra manpower can be utilized. These individuals generally live and work full time in our area communities in addition to their volunteer service with our office.

Members of the Sheriff’s Reserve Unit are highly trained professionals that exceed the reserve peace officer certification requirements of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. While on duty, they function in the same capacity of a regular full time Deputy Sheriff. Each year, the Sheriff’s Reserve volunteers give thousands of hours to the Story County Sheriff’s Office in serving the citizens of Story County.
