Story County is developing a Climate Action Plan (CAP) for Government Operations to ensure reliability as weather continues to become more volatile and as actions are implemented to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from county-owned buildings, fleet vehicles, equipment, and daily operations. Story County’s government buildings and fleets are essential to public safety. The Plan is designed to ensure they remain safe, available, and reliable for all residents. Story County is taking a proactive, local approach to safeguard government services, protect assets, and plan for future challenges.
Focused exclusively on internal government operations, the CAP will establish a baseline of current emissions, provide a framework for reaching reduction targets, evaluate risks associated with more frequent extreme weather events, and propose practical, cost-effective strategies that strengthen long-term energy efficiency, operational resilience, and public service delivery.
