Volunteer for Emergency Management
Story County Emergency Management works on a daily basis with volunteers and volunteer organizations throughout Story County. Volunteer service, whether it be for the Coalition for Disaster Recovery, Central Iowa RSVP, local fire departments and first responders, or other volunteer organizations active in disaster, is always needed in Story County.
Story County Coalition For Disaster Recovery
The Story County Coalition for Disaster Recovery (CDR) is committed to fostering cooperation, coordination, communication, and collaboration between civic groups, faith-based organizations, human services, businesses, and local government.
The mission of the CDR is to strengthen the public's disaster preparedness and increase resound capacity by:
- Identifying ahead of time the organizations that can provide services and/or resources during a disaster response and recovery
- Clarifying roles and responsibilities between our partnering organizations and reducing duplication of service
- Providing an organized system for seeking assistance for clients with verified unmet needs
- Providing a review process for the distribution of resources to those who have unmet needs after all other resources are exhausted
CDR is officially registered as a Citizen Corps and is sponsored by Story County Emergency Management. If your organization would like a presentation or is interested in supporting the mission contact the Story County CDR by email or through the EMA office at 515-382-7315.
