What type of application should I submit?

To determine what type of application to submit, you may contact the Planning and Development Department and consult the Story County Land Development Regulations. A conceptual review meeting is required before most applications can be made and is a good starting point.

A conceptual review is an informal meeting with County Departments to review preliminary plans. Comments on standards and any issues are provided for an applicant to consider before making a formal submittal. Professional plans are not required for conceptual review.

The meetings occur each Thursday, beginning at 9:30 AM, and are held via Zoom. Applications are due Thursdays by noon the week prior to the meeting. Applications for Conceptual Review can be submitted online at www.storycountyiowa.gov/pdpermits under development projects. There is no fee.
