Sleepy Hollow Hunting Reservable Hunting Rental Permit

  1. Reservations will run Mid-September to December and Mid-December to Mid-January. Each reservation will be for a 4 day period (Thursday - Sunday). Groups may reserve two 4-day spots throughout the season, but weeks cannot run consecutively. A minimum of 1 week break is required. Reservations are for youth and persons with disabilities only. 

    The following rules and regulations will be enforced:

    1. Hunting is for youth or persons with disabilities and by reservation only. *For disability requirements, see Iowa Code 483A.R "Permanent disability" defined.

    2. Hunting by reservation in provided SCC ground blind only.

    3. Archery hunting only: Bow or Crossbow. NO FIREARMS ALLOWED.

    4. Only one IDNR harvest tag may be filled by each  youth or person with disabilities per 4 day reservation period. 

    5. Permit must be obtained from the Story County Board (SCCB) office prior to hunting. 

    6. SCCB reserves the right to issue or deny approval of permit, permits are non-transferable. 

    7. Permit Requirements:

    A. Maximum of 3 persons (1 must be an adult).

    B. Youth must be 15 years and under with a licensed adult 21 years or older. Persons with disabilities may be any age, but if under 15 years of age, must have a licensed adult 21 years or older. 

    C. Name of every person in the hunting party and the hunting license number of each adult must be provided on permit. 

    D. Youth age 15 and under do not need a hunting license. A Hunter Safety class is not required, but is highly recommended.

    E. Permit must be displayed on the dash of the vehicle so it is visible from outside the vehicle. Park vehicles in designated areas only.

    8. Permit is for the entire 4 day reservation period. State shooting hours still apply.

    9. All State of Iowa Game Laws apply.

    10. Trapping is not allowed. 

    11. Honor all boundaries and refuge restrictions.

    12. Leave remains of field-cleaned game at least 50 yards from parkin and the road. 

    13. Report harvested game to SCC office within 3 days of harvest. *DNR harvest report procedure still required.

  2. User's Agreement

    I understand I must abide by all State and  County laws. I assume full responsibility for the equipment (beyond normal wear) which may occur during my  use as determined by Story County Conservation. I also assume total liability for all damages incurred through the use or misuse of said equipment while in my possession. I have checked the equipment upon receiving it and found it to be in good condition.
