Starting today (Aug. 12), all eligible voters residing within Story County school districts may vote at the Story County Auditor’s Office. Office hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The Auditor’s Office is located on the second floor of the Story County Administration Building, 900 6th Street, Nevada.
The last day to vote absentee in-person at the Auditor’s Office is as follows:
Ames CSD: Friday, September 4th, 8 am – 5 pm (polls open at 7 am on September 8th).
Ballard, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, Gilbert, Nevada and Roland-Story school districts: Tuesday, September 8th, 8 am – 11 am (polls open at 12 noon on September 8th).
Voters can request a mailed absentee ballot by filling out the “Official Iowa Absentee Ballot Request Form.” These forms are available at www.storycountyiowa.gov under the Auditor and Elections page.
An absentee ballot received in the mail can be returned by the following methods:
1. Mail—an envelope is provided and postage is pre-paid. The postmark must be no later than Saturday, September 5th.
2. In person—you may deliver your ballot to the County Auditor’s office. The deadline is 8:00 pm on Election Day, September 8th.
3. Designee—you may have someone else mail or deliver the ballot for you. The instructions found in your Absentee Ballot package will include a receipt which you may use for this purpose.
The pre-registration deadline is 5:00 pm, Friday, August 28th in the Auditor’s Office. After the deadline, Election Day Registration rules are in effect.
