Veteran Commission Members

Overview

The Commission of Veterans Affairs is made up of five members.

Pat Peakin, Commissioner: July 1, 2015 - June 30, 2018 (Colo)

Pat has lived in the Colo area his whole life. He has been married to his wife Linda for 40 years, and they have three married children and seven grandchildren. Pat served in the U.S.Navy on board the USS Richmond K. Turner (DLG 20) a Guided Missle Frigate in the Navigation department. He served on board from September 1969 to May of 1971.

Amy Rosenberg, Commissioner: July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2018 (Nevada)

Amy grew up in Nevada and after high school spent four years in the U.S. Navy on board the Aircraft Carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln. During her enlistment she served as an Aviation Boatswain's mate working in the arresting gear. She completed a ten-month WestPac in 2003. Amy came back to Nevada after her enlistment, and she lives there now with her husband Nick and two daughters. She served as the Public Relations Officer for AMVETS Post 62 out of Cambridge for 6 years.

Terry Greenfield, Commissioner: July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2019 (Story City)

Terry served for over 30 years in the United States Air Force, Iowa Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force Reserve and holds the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He worked as a Personnel Technician and as a Hospital/Medical Superintendent. Chief served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm at Langley AFB, VA and Offutt AFB, NE.

Terry is a Member of the American Legion Post 59 (20+ years), Life Member of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, Life Member of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Iowa (Executive Director), Life Member of the Air National Guard NCO Academy Graduates Association, GESAC liaison for the Iowa National Guard and Story County Emergency Management, President of the Story City Senior Citizens, Vice Chairman of the Story County Crime Stoppers, Trustee for Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteer for RSVP.

Russell Bauer, Commissioner: Dec. 12, 2017 - June 30, 2019 (Huxley)

Russell served from 2005 to 2012 on active duty in the Army. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, TX with the 4/1 Cav 27th BSB and was deployed to Mosul, Iraq in 2006. He reenlisted and was moved to Fort Riley, KS with the Big Red One, 2/32 Field Artillery, Proud Americans, which he deployed with to Tikrit, Iraq in 2009 as a Petroleum Supply Sergeant. Russell is currently in the Army Reserves and lives in Huxley with his wife Stacey, son Aidan, and daughter Zoey.

Lynn Lathrop, Commissioner: July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2020 (Nevada)

Lynn enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1969. After boot camp and special training, he was shipped to Vietnam. Lynn was with the first Marine Air Wing attached to the third Marine Division. After his tour of duty, he was sent back to San Diego and discharged. After eight months he re-enlisted in the Marine Corps, this time being sent to Hawaii attached to an Air Wing. Lynn spent two years as a flight line fuel chief and flight line safety officer. After his service obligation with the Marine Corps was up in 1973, he entered into the work force and spent the next 44 years as an Engineering Manager for a number of food manufacturing companies across the United States. Lynn retired in 2014 and spends his time working with the City of Nevada and various service clubs (Kiwanis, American Legion, DAV Life Member, Vietnam Veterans of America Life Member). He served on the Planning and Zoning Board for 2 years and served as Mayor of Nevada from 2013 to 2017.
