Overview

CICS (Central Iowa Community Services) was formed under Iowa Code Chapter 28E to create a mental health and disability service region in compliance with Iowa Code 331.390. Within this region, CICS is creating a regional system designed to improve health, hope, and successful outcomes the adults in our region who have mental health disabilities, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and brain injuries, including those with multi-occurring issues and other complex human service needs, and for children who have a diagnosis of serious emotional disturbance as defined in Iowa code section 225C.2.

Central Iowa Community Services

In accordance with the principles enumerated in the legislative redesign, CICS will work in a quality improvement partnership with stakeholders in the region (providers, families, individuals, and partner health and human service systems) to develop a system of care approach that is characterized by the following principles and values:

  • Welcoming and individual-oriented
  • Person and family driven
  • Recovery/resiliency oriented
  • Trauma-informed
  • Culturally competent
  • Multi-occurring capable

Who is eligible for funding?

  • People who have a mental illness, intellectual disability, developmental disability, or brain injury; AND
  • Meet specified income and asset guidelines; AND
  • Reside in the CICS region; AND
  • Professional assessments have determined that the services are needed.

Statewide Crisis Line

CICS has collaborated with the Iowa Department of Public Health and Your Life Iowa for a statewide crisis phone line that is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year to support anyone in crisis. The phone line is free to call and all contacts are confidential: 855-581-8111
