RE: Xenia Rural Water District Boil Water Advisory LIFTED

Xenia Rural Water District has lifted the boil water advisory that was in place for certain customers south of Ames.

This boil advisory was required because of a water main break that occurred on Wednesday night, April 11, affecting the service area immediately south of Ames. The affected customers were those in an area generally located south of Highway 30, bounded on the west by the Boone County line, on the south by the Polk County line, and on the east by Interstate 35.

The required water testing was performed throughout the water system. The samples were tested by an independent laboratory to determine if bacterial contamination was present, per the drinking water regulations. This is the normal procedure for all water utilities.
