County Commissioner of Veterans Affairs
Story County Veterans Affairs is seeking a wartime military Veteran willing to serve as a County Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for a three-year term to start on July 1, 2014.
The Story County Commission of Veterans Affairs has a total of three commissioners.
Duties entail a monthly meeting held during the first week of the month from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. At that meeting a review County expenditures for veteran’s assistance during the last month is done and a monthly report from the Director of Veterans Affairs is given, additional monthly meeting on occasion may be required and quarterly meetings with the Story County Board of Supervisors.
Compensation for this position is $50 per month plus mileage to and from the meetings.
Training is required by each Commissioner. Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs has Annual state Veterans Affairs training each year in the fall for one day of training in Des Moines.
Applicants must have wartime era military service and be Honorably Discharged.
