[ARCHIVED] Blizzard Warning For Story County

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning that includes Story County. The blizzard warning will go into effect at 6PM Wednesday December 19th and end at 6PM Thursday December 20th. Snow totals of 6-12 inches are possible by Thursday morning. The winds will become very stong after midnight Wednesday with sustained winds of 25-30mph and gusts over 45mph possible. Drifts several feet deep and blizzard conditions will be possible given the strong winds.

Very dangerous conditions are expected to develop tonight into Thursday morning. Be prepared for very dangerous tavel and blizzard conditions. Use extreme caution if you have to travel during the storm. Make sure you have a winter survival kit in your vehicle and check road conditions through the Iowa DOT road conditions website. Stay tuned to your local media, the National Weather Service for updates as the storm develops.
