Story County Emergency Management and several community partners are collaborating to gather information from individuals interested in providing temporary child care for essential personnel during the COVID 19 outbreak. A form is available to potential child care providers that collects contact information, preferred locations to provide child care services, and the hours they are available. This information will be shared with community leaders and agencies providing essential services who will then reach out directly to individual providers to schedule child care. “We know there are a lot of people out there that want to help. Offering to provide child care so our essential worker can continue their critical missions and knowing their children have good supervision is a fantastic way you can support your community.” Emergency Management Coordinator, Keith Morgan explained.
Also, prior to providing services, individuals are encouraged to complete an online child care class, provided free of charge, by ISU Extension to ensure quality child care. If you have already taken the class there is no need to take a second time. https://www.extension.iastate.edu/story/content/2020-online-babysitting-basics
