Story County Conservation and Houston Engineering welcome the public to review and provide feedback on conceptual designs for mitigating the Hannum’s Mill Low Head Dam on the South Skunk River. A public meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 11, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Danfoss Room at the Ames Public Library (515 Douglas Ave., Ames).
This is the second public meeting in the exploratory phase of mitigating the Hannum’s Mill Low Head Dam. This exploratory phase identified conceptual designs that alleviate the dangers associated with a low head dam as well as improve passage for people and wildlife. Conceptual designs have incorporated public comments as well as anticipated permit requirements based on archaeological and mussel surveys of the site.
