[ARCHIVED] Hog Confinement Proposed South of Hickory Grove Lake

Hog Confinement Proposed South of Hickory Grove Lake

Story County received a manure management plan (MMP) on June 1, 2012, submitted by Rockstar Land & Livestock LLC. The MMP is for a proposed hog confinement facility to be constructed approximately one mile south of Hickory Grove Lake. The facility will have a capacity of 2,294 head of swine >55 pounds, with an annual production of 4,992 hogs. A facility this size does not require a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) construction permit nor does it trigger a county master matrix review. The DNR is the permitting authority for this facility. For additional information, contact the DNR Field Office #5 at 515-625-0268 or or Copies of the MMP are on file and may be viewed in the Story County Environmental Health office located in the Administration Building (515-382-7240). The 6/5/2012 Board of Supervisor’s meeting received public comments regarding the Rockstar proposal.
