Get your flu shot yet????
Flu shots have arrived at the VA of Central Iowa Health Care System.
Flu season is here again. Influenza, or flu, is a contagious virus that spreads through coughing or sneezing, and is related to thousands of hospitalizations and deaths every year. Getting immunized is the single best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from getting sick this flu season.
VA Central Iowa Health Care System is hosting onsite walk-in flu shot clinics to make it easier than ever for you to stay healthy! This year we are carrying:
-Fluarix QUADRIVALENT
-Fluzone (High Dose) for those 65 years and older
You can get your flu shot at:
- VA Clinics: free flu shots during any scheduled VA clinic appointment in Primary Care, Mental Health or Specialty Care.
- Special Walk-In clinics: Free flu shots are also available at our walk-in flu stations-- Primary Care Flu Walk-in Clinic will be starting September 15th and going until October 31st.
- Other non-VA providers and pharmacies are also options, and some employers provide flu shots. They’re offered at health fairs and local clinics or events, too. There may be a charge for your flu shot at these locations. If you choose this option, please notify us of your vaccination by responding to this Secure Message so it can be documented in your health record.
The VA is partnering with Walgreens again this year. You can go there and show your Veteran ID Card and get the TRIVALENT flu shot.
