The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income families and individuals pay their heating bills through energy assistance grants. The grant results in a one-time payment for an eligible household's heating costs.
Beginning October 1, elderly and disabled persons may apply for LIHEAP through the MICA office in Ames. Please call MICA at 956-3333 to schedule an appointment.
Elderly individuals must be 60 years of age and older. Disabled persons must receive, have applied for, or are waiting for SSI, or currently be on worker’s compensation.
Beginning November 1, all other low-income individuals may apply for the energy assistance. Please call MICA at 956-3333 to schedule an appointment.
