On Thursday, January 30, 2025 Story County Conservation staff found the outlet valve on Dakins Lake had been damaged and water was leaking. Unfortunately, over a foot of water loss had already taken place when the leak was found. This loss creates a space between the ice and the current water level, making it extremely unsafe for anyone to be on the ice. Story County Conservation is urging the public to stay off of the ice until further notice.
