The Story County Economic Development Group is comprised of municipal officials, economic development professionals, County elected officials, and County staff, who through their combined efforts promote economic growth, quality of life, capital investment, and job creation throughout Story County.
The group meets quarterly in a pre-selected Story County community and discusses projects within the fifteen participating municipalities, projects being undertaken by the Story County Board of Supervisors and assistance being provided the municipalities by the Board, the tasks being performed and assistance being provided by the Director of Story County Community Outreach, as well as an educational component with presentations from economic development experts throughout the State of Iowa.
The Story County Economic Development Group is also responsible for the annual distribution of economic development pool funds. These funds can be used for:
Economic Development Staff and Administration
Community Marketing and Prospecting
Development of Promotional Materials
Consulting and Planning Services
General Community Betterment Activities
Applications for pool funds are reviewed once a year, with the Group determining which projects are funded and at what level. These funds provide critical assistance to participating entities and have funded a variety of great projects throughout Story County.
As the influence of the Group and support from the Board of Supervisors continues to expand, the Story County Economic Development Group is poised for success in the years to come.
