Story County Environmental Health Department has contracted with the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) to inspect Story County swimming pools and spas as licensed under Iowa Administrative Code (IAC) Chapter 15, Swimming Pools and Spas.

IAC Chapter 15 establishes minimum safety and water quality standards and requirements for the construction and operation of swimming pools and spas. Effective February 11, 2022, aquatic facilities in Story County will be required to comply with regulations in Ordinance 301 - Chapter 64 Aquatic Facilities. Our contract requires annual inspections of all licensed pool and spa facilities within Story County as well as inspections on an as needed or complaint basis.
