May 26, 2021, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ Work locations will be determined the week prior
Help us weed our conservation areas! Every Wednesday we will be pulling garlic mustard or using hand tools to cut honeysuckle -- two invasive plants that are taking the place of more valuable native plants.
Work locations are to be determined as the weather plays a role in plant emergence; we'll email you the location the week prior. Registration is required; sign up by the Sunday before each week’s event. Participants ages 15 and under need an adult present.
May 26, 2021, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM @ Hickory Grove Park
Take a break from your screen and go on a field trip with a naturalist! These are our favorite school field trips offered instead for families. While all ages are welcome, please note the suggested grades for each field trip.
Programs will take place outdoors and will be canceled in the event of severe weather. Children must be accompanied by an adult; no more than five children per adult. Bring a blanket for your group to sit physically distanced; masks are required. Registration and $5 per group is required by the Monday before each field trip.
5/26 Nature Detectives (designed for Kindergarten): Using their senses to uncover clues, "detectives" will investigate the forest through inquiry and hands-on observation.
May 26, 2021, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ McFarland Park
During this spring hike we will work together to discover and identify the local mushrooms found at McFarland Park, with knowledgeable enthusiasts as our guides. We will also discuss the possibility of forming a mushroom club, which will host local forays in the future. This is for newbies and experts alike.
