  1. Walk the Trails series

    May 11, 2021, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM @ McFarland Park

Join a naturalist as we walk the trails in our county parks. This is a great opportunity for adults to explore new places, meet new hiking pals, and have the opportunity to ask a naturalist nature or park questions. Participants can walk at their own pace. Route at this park is approximately 3 miles. This walk is free, but registration is required by 9am on May 10. Walks are intended for adults. Our top priority has been and will continue to be the health and well-being of the public and the staff. In response to the ongoing development of COVID-19, Story County Conservation programs will adhere to social distancing, smaller group size, increased sanitation and face coverings mandatory when social distancing is not possible or while indoors. Pre-registration will be required when group size needs to be limited due to the facility or location.

  2. Nature Play: Pond Scooping

    May 11, 2021, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM @ Tedesco Environmental Learning Corridor

Bring your water shoes and get ready to get wet and muddy! During this unstructured activity, we’ll provide scooping equipment and head to the pond to catch frogs, tadpoles, snails, and other fascinating pond creatures. Let the imagination, discoveries, and friendships unfold! Participants should wear clothes that can get wet and muddy and closed-toed shoes. Adults must remain present. After the designated pond time families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and continue the fun and explore the rest of the park on their own. This program is free, but registration is required. This activity is most appropriate for ages 5 and up, but all ages are welcome.
