    Every day at Frogs camp is an adventure as children examine the natural world around them. This camp is only for children that are completing kindergarten in the spring of 2019. Children may only be registered for one Frogs: Adventure in order to avoid duplicate programming. This camp runs Monday, ?July 15 - Friday, July 19, 2019. Camp will begin at ?1:00 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. daily. Registration begins on Saturday, April ?13 at 8:00 a.m.

  2. Waterbugs: Expedition (afternoon)

    Children will go on expeditions to find nature's wonders right here in Story County. This camp is only for children that are completing 1st or 2nd grade in the spring of 2019. Children may only be registered for one Waterbugs: Expedition in order to avoid duplicate programming. This camp runs Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19, 2019. Camp will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. daily. Registration begins on Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m.

  3. Polliwogs: Dirt, Plants, Rocks, & Water

    July 16, 2019, 9:00 AM - July 19, 2019, 11:30 AM @ McFarland Park

    Children experience nature using dirt, rocks, plants, and water and get wet and dirty in the process! This camp is only for children that will be starting kindergarten in the fall of 2019. Children must be 5 years of age by August 1, 2019 in order to attend. This camp runs Tuesday, July 16 - ?Friday, July 19. Camp will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. daily. Parents are not allowed to stay with children (we require background checks on each person that is around children). Registration begins on Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m.

  6. Eco Arts Camp: A Walk on the Wild Side

    July 24, 2019, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM @ McFarland Park

    Campers will enjoy plenty of creative activities while connecting to the nature at McFarland Park. Activities will include hiking, theater games, mask making, sketching, and nature journaling. This camp is only for children that are completing 4th, 5th, or 6th grade in the spring of 2019. This one-day camp will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Each child will need to bring their own sack lunch. Registration begins on Saturday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m.

  7. Evening Prairie Walk

    July 25, 2019, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Doolittle Prairie

    Join Dr. Thomas Rosburg on monthly prairie walks at the largest prairie remnant in Story County. See rare and common prairie flora that change each month and learn about the history and ecology of central Iowa prairies. Long pants, sturdy shoes, and bug spray are recommended. Walks are family-friendly but not stroller-friendly. Walks will be canceled in the event of inclement weather (thunderstorms). These walks are free, and no registration is required.

  8. FLOAT V (Backpacking Trip)

    July 31, 2019, 6:00 AM - August 6, 2019, 7:00 PM @ Campers will meet at McFarland Park

    For those completing grades 9 through 12: This is an inspiring seven-day backpacking adventure to Rocky Mountain National Park! Campers will spend three nights back-country camping in over 200,000 acres of wilderness at our nation's highest national park. Once we leave the back country, the adventure continues with a breathtaking two hour horseback ride through Hidden Meadow. How do you earn a spot? Complete an application and letter of support by 4 pm May 22, 2019. If selected, you will begin your journey with a mandatory training day on June 18, 2019 from 9:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m. at McFarland Park. Scholarships available at https://www.iowanaturalists.org/programs/funding or http://iowaee.org/awards-scholarships/chris-holt-youth-wilderness-trip-scholarship/ Participants will be responsible for meals on the road, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, water bottles, and clothing. Once participants are selected they will received a detailed list of needed supplies.
