Draw inspiration from wintry holidays and decorate your own birdhouse gourd on Tuesday, December 7, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Story County Conservation Center (56461 180^th Street, Ames).

Birdhouse gourds are not only fun ornaments to add around your home and garden, but can also provide nesting homes for native birds. We’ll provide pre-cut gourds and all needed supplies, you just bring your creativity! Sip hot cocoa while you sand, “gut,” and decorate; gourds may need to be left behind to dry and lacquer and can be picked up the following week. 

This program is best for ages 6 and over. Children must be accompanied by their adult. Please come wearing clothes you don’t mind getting covered in paint. Fee of $7 per gourd is required with online registration by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, December 6.
