Volunteering
Overview
Story County Conservation (SCC) provides numerous volunteer opportunities for all ages. Whether you want to volunteer individually or as a group, we would like you to be a part of our team. Our volunteers put in almost 5,000 hours of service annually. The work they do helps SCC reach conservation goals. The work our volunteers do for SCC, benefits everyone.
The mission of the Story County Conservation Volunteer Program is to provide opportunities for meaningful, personal participation in furthering the conservation boards mission.
Our volunteers are valuable stewards of our Natural Resources. If you would like to help Story County Conservation by volunteering, please complete and return the Application for Voluntary Service. Thank you for your interest in the Story County Conservation volunteer program!

Adopt-A-Park
Are you seeking a way to get outdoors and be of service throughout the year? Several Story County conservation parks, trails and water accesses along the South Skunk River are in need of regular care through our Adopt-A-Park program.
AAP volunteers commit their own time to provide litter cleanup and other light duties. We ask that volunteers spend at least one time each month in your designated county park or area. AAP Contracts run from July 1 – June 30 of each fiscal year.
Parks currently available for adoption include: various areas at Hickory Grove Park. Water accesses and trails available for adoption include: C.J. Shreck Access, various sections of the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail and the Praeri Rail Trail.
