Section Corner Ties
Getting Section Corner Ties from the Story County Website

  1. Visit the GIS Website  to open in a new browser window.
  2. Use the drop down menu to select Story County, and check the "Accept Terms and Conditions" box.
  3. Click on the Map Tab Map Tab at the top of the page.
  4. A map of Story County will appear.
  5. Click on the Magnifying Glass / Zoomicon to zoom in on the map.
  6. Click and drag a box around area section corners needed (about 1 mile in area)
  7. Expand the "Public Land Survey" Section in the box to the left
  8. Check the box to the left of PLS Corners layer to make them visible, it looks like the following:

  9. Click on the actual text of "PLS Corners" to make the layer active.
  10. Click on the Info Iconbutton at the top of the page to make that tool active.
  11. With the pointer on the map, click the triangle of the section corner tie.

  12. If there is information available for the corner, a .PDF document will appear on the top of the page. The "New Corner Certificate Submission" portion of the page is for Story County.
  13. Notify the Engineer's Office if there are any errors.
