Local Emergency Planning Committee
Our Local Planning Committee
The Story County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is comprised of members from emergency response agencies including fire, medical, law enforcement, hospitals, public health and emergency management. Also involved are transportation agencies, media, industry, and community groups.

The responsibilities of the LEPC include:
  • Preparation, annual review, and training of the County wide HazMat and Emergency Operations plan
  • Coordinates training for emergency personnel
  • Identify facilities and transportation routes for hazardous material storage and travel through the county
  • Conduct hazard analysis and vulnerability studies
  • Evaluates warning and evacuation procedures
  • Conducts public meeting to promote the Community Right to Know Law

    The LEPC meet quarterly at sites throughout the county. If you would be interested in joining, attending or participating contact the LEPC Chair.
