Story County's Largest Park!

Hickory Grove Park is the largest and most popular of the conservation board's parks. This 445-acre multiple-use recreational area southwest of Colo contains a 98-acre lake stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, and grass carp.

Lodge Reservations
To reserve a lodge, visit our reservation system on MyCountyParks. Reservation fees are:
  • Oriole Ridge Lodge (north side of the lake - accommodates a maximum of 100 people) - $50 per time period
  • Snow Bunting Lodge (south side of the lake - accommodates a maximum of 75 people) - $35 per time period 
The time periods are 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and  3:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. All lodges are first-come, first-served unless a reservation is in place. All open shelters are first-come, first-served.
