While spring is a time of renewal, summer a time of plenty, and fall a season of transition, winter is a challenging time of hardship and adaptation for Midwestern wildlife. This presentation will discuss the many challenges faced by wintering wildlife and we will view images demonstrating their adaptability and will to survive. This program is sponsored by the Outdoor Alliance of Story County, Story County Conservation, and the Ames Public Library.
Ty Smedes is a skilled photographer who aims to help others enjoy, appreciate, and value our often fragile and threatened natural ecosystems and natural heritage.
Participants are invited to record a story inspired by Iowa’s nature through the Common Ground project. A facilitator will be available in a study room from 8:00-8:45 to record 10 minute stories on a first-come, first-served basis. Find additional opportunities for participation at
