  1. TEAM (Trail Enhancement and Management) Day - River Clean Up

    September 29, 2018, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Soper's Mill (North and South)

    Be a part of our TEAM (Trail Enhancement and Management) and help make improvements to county trail systems. This TEAM day will be a collaborative effort with the Outdoor Alliance of Story County! We will clean up the river while we float from Soper's Mill to Sleepy Hollow. Canoes and life jackets will be provided. Participants must be at least 10 years of age and children must be accompanied by an adult. Prior canoe experience is preferred but not required. All volunteers are asked to wear clothes they don't mind getting muddy or wet and bring a water bottle. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended. Registration is required by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27 to ensure enough refreshments and tools for everyone.

    The forest is the therapist, the guide opens the doors. Immerse yourself in nature and experience the benefits of being fully present in the medicine of the forest. This gentle three-hour forest therapy walk offers a rich experience in nature that can improve mood and provide relaxation. Shinrin-yoku, or forest therapy, offers researched-based health benefits such as lowered blood pressure, decreased anxiety, and improved cognitive function. Certified guides from Forest Therapy Pathways will guide you to become sensitized to the healing environment of the forest. You'll have the opportunity for self-reflection, social interaction, and a little child-like fun! Join us for this unique wellness activity to rejuvenate and experience nature in a new way. Fee of $25 per person is required by 4pm on Friday, September 14.
