  1. O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Livelier Seniors):Using Weather Radar to Monitor Bird Migration

    December 6, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Conservation Center

    O.W.L.S. programs are designed for "boomers" or older, but anyone can attend. No registration is required unless you would like to attend the optional luncheon that follows the program for just $7.50. If you would rather not register online, call our office at 515.232.2516. Karl Jungbluth, a retired meteorologist with the National Weather Service, will cover the basics of weather radar interpretation for bird watchers. In addition, he'll share some weather insights to help you predict when the birds will be migrating over Iowa. Register for lunch by 4pm, Friday, December 2. Menu: honey baked ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans, dinner roll, and apple pie.

  3. Geocache Elf Hunt

    December 11, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Conservation Center

    Santa's helpers have been playing in the park! Join Naturalist Jess Lancial to learn how to use a GPS, then go search the woods to find some elves and their presents they have hidden in the park. The hunt is limited to 20 groups, or 50 total collector. We recommend that groups not exceed eight people as groups will share one GPS unit. Be sure to register early to save your spot! Fee of $5 per collector (any child 3-14 years old) with registration required by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5.
