Story County Boards and Commissions Openings

The following Story County Boards and Commissions have openings:

Analysis of Social Services Evaluation Team (ASSET) -  2 openings

The purpose of ASSET is to promote the coordination of local human services planning and funding among sponsoring organizations (Story County, City of Ames, Central Iowa Community Services, United Way of Story County, and Iowa State University Student Government).  Board members serve for three (3) year terms expiring April 1st at the end of the third year.  Meetings are generally held the second Thursday of the month at 5:00pm at City Church in Ames.  ASSET meetings are open to the general public.

Veteran’s Affairs Commission – 1 opening
The Commission of Veterans Affairs is a 5- member board providing oversight and guidance to the Story County Veteran Affairs Office.  Veteran Affairs offers assistance with emergency basic needs to Story County veterans and/or their family members, who are discharged under Honorable Conditions. Veterans need to have served 90 consecutive days of active Federal service, not counting training.  Story County Veterans Assistance programs are funded by Story County along with an annual appropriation of $10,000 per year from the Iowa Legislature. 
Commission members serve for three (3) year terms expiring June 30th at the end of the third year.  Commission of Veterans Affairs meetings are held on a monthly basis.
